The 4 Steps to Taking the Lead resource draws on and extends upon the information provided on SSA’s Taking the Lead website. 4 Steps to Taking the Lead is just that – four steps that can be taken to meet the prescribed standards for trainers and assessors.
4 Steps to Taking the Lead mostly reflects the structure and skill set in the TAE Training and Education Training Package: TAESS00009 Address Foundation Skills in Vocational Practice. This skill set is made up of three units of competency:
- TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills;
- TAELLN412 Access resources and support to address foundation skills in vocational practice; and
- TAELLN413 Integrate foundation skills into vocational training delivery.
Step four of the professional development program suggests evidence that users may collect along the way, which can be used by those people seeking accreditation for any of the units in the TAESS00009 skill set.
Taking the Lead is SSA’s one-stop-shop for information and advice on developing the language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills of people in the service industries. The website provides information to help registered training organisations and employers. As well as the 4 Steps online professional development resource, it also includes case studies showing how employers and employees benefit from training that supports and develops LLN skills; links to other useful sites; a searchable directory of LLN resources; and the latest news and events on LLN training services and funding opportunities.
